Cream shortening and sugar.
Add pumpkin, eggs and vanilla, beat well.
Stir together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg and cloves.
Add in salt, then mix well. Stir in raisins and nuts.
Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 250 F for 12 to 15 minutes.
Cool on rack.
Can be frosted with vanilla or cream cheese frosting.
