Jermaine Pigee

Assistant Managing Editor

After spending more than a decade as a news reporter, covering everything from budget cuts to chicken ordinances, Jermaine was ready for a change. He was more than excited to join the Northwest Quarterly team in 2016. In addition to editing and overseeing social media, he writes informative and uplifting stories that inspire readers in northwest Chicagoland, northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

Born in Decatur, Ill. and raised in Bloomington, Ill., Jermaine graduated from Northern Illinois University with a major in journalism and a minor in black studies. While at NIU, he worked as a campus reporter for the Northern Star, the school’s newspaper.

Outside of Northwest Quarterly, Jermaine is a die-hard Chicago sports fan. He enjoys cooking and he loves to grill, even in the colder months. He lives in Belvidere with his wife, Kate, and their two children, Skyler and Alex.
