Fox Valley Orthopedics

Algonquin l Barrington l Elgin l Geneva
(630) 584-1400 |

Fox Valley Orthopedics (FVO) offers a continuum of musculoskeletal care in the diagnostic and comprehensive treatment of acute or chronic orthopedic conditions or injuries. From treating broken bones and fractures to providing joint pain relief, FVO provides extensive care to get patients on the road to recovery.

Throughout the past 49 years, FVO has made great strides in surgical advancements, added physicians for better patient care and expanded services.

This year, Dr. Lauren Matteini was the first to perform an Anterior to Psoas (ATP) fusion of the lumbar spine in an ambulatory surgery center in the state of Illinois. This minimally invasive procedure stabilizes the spine to help correct abnormal movement.

Podiatrist Dr. Gary Kazmer and internal medicine specialist Dr. Michael Hernandez have recently joined this growing team of physicians. FVO now has 20 board-certified/board-eligible physicians who provide both surgical and non-surgical orthopedic solutions. Specialties include foot and ankle, hand and upper extremity, joint replacement, spine and sports medicine, as well as physical medicine and rehabilitation/pain management, rheumatology and internal medicine for the orthopedic patient.

Seven orthopedic surgeons from FVO have earned the Castle Connolly Top Doctors distinction in an unprecedented number from one practice. This year’s distinguished physicians include Dr. Joshua Alpert, Dr. Eric Bartel, Dr. Vishal Mehta, Dr. Jasper Petrucci, Dr. Timothy Petsche, Dr. James Sostak, and Dr. Craig Torosian.

FVO offers diagnostic, treatment and support services to further assist patients. Earlier this year, FVO upgraded its computer platform to AthenaHealth to help strengthen physician and patient communications. Patients can now access this new platform through FVO’s website and then leave a message for their physician, make an appointment, access health records, request prescriptions and pay a bill.

Other FVO services include:

Imaging Services with the latest MRI and X-ray technology.

Durable Medical Equipment, such as braces or crutches, are available to patients who need additional support.

Ambulatory Surgery Center is a fully equipped, state-of-the-art facility that offers convenient, outpatient care that is less expensive than a hospital. The entire surgical team – physicians, registered nurses, technicians and anesthesiologists – are orthopedic specialists who offer quality of care for optimal recovery.

Workers Compensation Services are available for independent medical examinations.

Physical and Occupational Therapy has a rehabilitation team that will help develop a comprehensive treatment plan to build muscles, improve range of motion and restore function. FVO is excited to announce the opening of two new physical therapy locations in Huntley and Aurora in June.

OrthoFirst Orthopedic Urgent Care is for acute injuries such as fractures, broken bones, muscle/joint pain, sprains and dislocations that need immediate medical attention. Specialists are available in Geneva, Elgin and Barrington.

Fox Valley Orthopedics is a state-of-the-art, state-licensed facility, and is accredited by the AAAHC – Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.

Rockford Nephrology Associates

612 Roxbury Road, Rockford
p: (815) 227-8300 // f: (855) 243-0207 | |

Nephrology is the medical specialty which diagnoses and treats diseases of the kidneys. Kidney disease affects one in seven people (approximately 37 million) in the United States and may result from causes such as diabetes, hypertension, polycystic kidney disease, glomerulonephritis, or obstructions of the urinary tract.

The most well-known function of the kidneys is to form urine containing waste from the body, which is the filtration function. Kidneys are also responsible for certain hormone secretion, which can affect the production of red blood cells and promote absorption of calcium. Kidneys also help with fluid and acid-base balance, blood pressure control and glucose production. Therefore, anemia, high blood pressure, Vitamin D deficiency, and fluid and electrolyte imbalances are also monitored and treated by the nephrology team.

At Rockford Nephrology Associates, our board-certified nephrologists and nurse practitioners provide consultative services and follow-up visits which, along with lab and radiology testing, help to diagnose kidney disease and determine the best-quality treatment options. Education is key to understanding the disease and for preparing to make treatment choices at each stage.
